Saturday’s black and blush spring wedding was such a beautiful day at United Church, Chapel on the Hill! Yes it rained, but that didn’t prevent Kristen and Jason from having the most beautiful wedding day ever! Kristen and I were able to meet several times in the months leading up to their wedding to discuss the plans and every time we discussed all the beautiful places around the chapel where we’d take photos. Then the day of the wedding, it poured! Not the entire time though. We were able to get some photos outside but we did have to do a lot inside, which you probably aren’t used to seeing on my blog because I LOVE outdoor photos with natural light. But I do have to say, I loved every moment of Kristen and Jason’s wedding and some of the indoor shots are some of my favorites from the entire day!

Kristen and Jason’s wedding was beautiful for more reasons than their gorgeous black and blush colors. They were surrounded by family and friends, some of which came from miles away to be a part of their day. Kristen had told me before the wedding that she wasn’t sure if her Grandpa was going to be able to make it or not, but he flew in to TN to surprise her and I’m so glad he did! He made the wedding extra special and I know Kristen loved having him there! Also, during the ceremony Kristen played the piano and Jason sang and it was such a sweet moment! I loved getting to capture them share the talents God’s given them on their wedding day!

During their ceremony the pastor talked about how he knew Kristen and Jason were meant to be together and I have to wholeheartedly agree! I can’t tell you how amazing these two are together. They are so wonderfully made for each other and so deeply in love and anyone who spends 30 seconds with them is able to see that too.  Jason and Kristen, I hope you guys are having the time of your life on your honeymoon!! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day! <3K

Kristen wore a gorgeous Vera Wang dress! It looked so, so beautiful on her!

Look at their cute invitations!! I love that they used their engagement photo for it! And isn’t her ring GORGEOUS!?

One of my favorite parts of the wedding day is shooting the Bridal details and Kristen had perfect details for her day! I especially love that she brought this perfume to be added in to the photos! It made the perfect addition and smelled so good!<3

I don’t see this too, too often, but Kristen had a separate dress to leave the reception in and it was the perfect color to add into her bridal detail shots! I love when brides have a separate beautiful dress to leave in! Plus, it’s more comfortable for them! 🙂

Kroger Floral did the flowers and they did an amazing job!

Jason and the groomsmen had it made before the ceremony! They had a pool table and a ping pong table, but luckily I was able to get some quick shots of them getting ready in between games.

 I LOVE this shot!!

First looks are my favorite and Kristen and Jason’s did not disappoint. They are the sweetest couple ever.

FUN FACT: It was POURING rain during this photo, but thankfully my hubby was there to help and hold an umbrella for a second so I could get a couple shots of the Bride and Groom outside at the front of the church. So glad we stepped outside for a couple photos despite the rain.

This is such a classy wedding party!

Can anyone guess these two are sisters?? They look so much alike! And you don’t see her in this photo, but they actually have a younger sister as well who looks just like them! They’re all so pretty!

Jason’s really thinking – can my bride just come in already? 🙂

Kristen played the piano while Jason sang during their ceremony and it was so beautiful! I love seeing couples use the talents God has given them – and especially together on their wedding day!

We had a little break in the clouds and were able to step outside the back of the chapel for a little bit and I love the photos we were able to get!

 LOVE this one!

After the ceremony we went to the Event Center at Calhoun’s for dinner, singing, and a whole lot of fun!

Everything was decorated so beautifully and the food was amazing! I highly, highly recommend the Event Center at Calhoun’s for receptions!Event Center at Calhouns

These guys gave the best toasts I think I’ve ever heard! They did so good!

Jason was able to sing for his beautiful bride at the reception and if any of you get the chance to hear him sing, do it. He’s super talented and with Kristen playing the piano alongside him, I’d buy tickets to see them! 😉

Kristen’s sister caught the bouquet and I wish you guys could have seen her smile in person when she did! Their grandfather told me before the ceremony started that he loved seeing someone with a good smile – that people with a beautiful smile can light up a whole room and I have to say, all of the Bakke women have that smile!

Congratulations Kristen and Jason!!

  1. Wedding Day Shot Lists » Melinda Sheree Photography Knoxville Wedding Photographer

[…] Another type of shot lists photographers sometimes receive is a list with recreated shots. The most popular one is “bride sitting on edge of the bed smelling her bouquet with a beautiful robe on”. You know the one I’m talking about!! Where the bride is really tan, she’s in a gorgeous, CLEAN hotel room with beautiful soft light – literally everything about the photo is perfect. The issue with this is, unless we were in that exact hotel room with that exact blue robe that perfectly matched the color scheme of the room, with that exact lighting scenario, there’s NO WAY to recreate that photo to look like that! Yes we could do our own version, but what I often find is that when Bride’s have very specific poses they want it’s because they’ve seen a photo like it. So they’re expecting their own photo to look like the one they saw when in reality, the venue room you’re getting ready in is nothing like the photo, and you most likely didn’t think to match your robe to the color scheme of the room.   BUT if there’s a pose you and your Groom always take together then DO let your photographer know you’d like a professional picture of that pose on your wedding day! The trouble with recreated poses from other weddings is that the photographer is going to have to carry that list of poses around with them all day. I’d have to constantly be looking at the list to make sure I got all of those poses you wanted and I wouldn’t have time to capture YOU or the natural emotional moments that happen during the day. In turn, you wouldn’t have images that accurately portrayed the beauty of YOUR day. Kristen told me during their engagement session she loves to hold on to Jason’s jacket while and pull him in for a kiss. We took this shot at their engagement session and again on their wedding day! It’s a pose she asked for but it’s unique to them! View more images from their wedding HERE. […]
