Today we’re back at Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville for Meredith and Caleb’s “mini” engagement session. We work with many out of town couples every year and I love when they make it a priority to have an engagement session before the wedding day. Actually, I don’t just love it, I think it’s super helpful! When we’re able to do an engagement session with our couples before their wedding day we get to get to know them a little, they get to know us, we get to teach them our posing, and they get to learn what it’s like in front of our cameras. Could they learn this on a wedding day? Absolutely! And a lot of couples do. But engagement sessions allow all of that to happen in a laid back atmosphere. Weddings can be so hectic and fast paced with schedules to follow, but at engagement sessions we get to just have FUN! And the couples get to relax and snuggle up to one another and it’s just a great experience. I know I’ve said it before on here, but engagement sessions really do help the wedding day flow smoother!! And, bonus, they also allow us to get MORE photos on the wedding day!
So, all that to say, we decided to do a “mini engagement session” with Meredith and Caleb after Meredith’s bridal session. We literally spent about 15 minutes getting these photos! Meredith already knew the ropes from being photographed for the past hour beforehand and teaching them the posing together went so smoothly and quickly. Because we were able to do that, Usbec and I are so proud of the wedding images we were able to get on their wedding day! They received so many more portraits on their wedding day than they would have without the engagement session because we didn’t have to break the ice and teach them posing on their big day. We were able to just jump into it and start getting amazing portraits! And ya’ll, their outfits were AMAZING!! I love, I mean I LOVE when couples dress up so nice for their engagement session! I love casual outfits as well, but a suit for the groom or even dress pants with a suit coat and a beautiful dress for the bride look so classy and timeless!
There’s a recent blog post all about second photographers that you can view HERE. But here’s a little peek: Usbec took the photo on the left, while I took the photo on the right.
The photo above on the right was taken by Usbec while I took the photo below on the left. Just another example of having 2 photographers! 🙂
