PHOTOGRAPHY
Even though we specialize in wedding photography now, we still take on a limited number of portrait sessions per year. Melinda Sheree Photography started with it's first family session in 2012! So you could say portrait sessions are our first love! We love getting to work with sweet families, high school and college seniors, and even newborn and in-home lifestyle photography. Our approach to portrait sessions is very documentary/lifestyle. You'll have a few posed photos mixed in for sure, but we think the best sessions are created when the kids are allowed to have fun and be themselves, aka - run wild and free!
The MSP Wedding Experience begins when you first inquire. Choosing a wedding photographer shouldn't just be one more thing you check off your to-do list. These images will be shown to your children someday and then, years later, they'll be shown to your grandchildren. They'll become focal points in your new home together and will decorate the pages of your most treasured photo album. Wedding photographs are something you'll look back on for years and years to come. Because of this, I work with my clients to ensure their wedding day goes off the way they always imagined and to ensure they get the photos they've always dreamed of! And to do that I've created the MSP Wedding Experience! The MSP Wedding Experience includes all the things listed below!
I think it's important to know your children. For example, my son does best when his belly is full and he's gotten a solid nap! So the first step is to prepare them! The second (and most important) step is to prepare yourself. I always tell our families that if the parents are in a bad mood, the kids will be too! Know that we'll most likely run, make silly faces, have a couple tickle fights, and we may even play in the dirt! Don't worry - we try to save that one for extreme cases! But the point is, most family sessions are perfectly posed on the cleanest white blanket you can find. I've found though that the best way to get smiling faces with families with little ones is to get on their level. Let them be kids. Let them have fun and play! They'll have a more enjoyable time, YOU'LL have a more enjoyable time, and we'll definitely get at least one smiling photo!
ABSOLUTELY!! We find the best senior sessions are the ones where you're able to be yourself! We usually recommend a dressy outfit and a more casual dressy outfit. Don't worry, we're happy to help you choose what might look best in camera! As for props, definitely include them! If you play sports or an instrument, choosing your prop should be pretty easy! Otherwise, include something that you like to do! Read books, artwork, dance, etc. And don't be afraid to choose a location that showcases your personality, too! Did you spend most of your time at a favorite coffee shop? Do you love to walk downtown with friends? Including fun locations is a great way to make your senior session stand out! And if the two locations are close enough, we can always finish up on your college campus!
Definitely not! We love that type of photography, but that's not our style. Our style is more lifestyle and documentary. Is it time for your session and your baby is wide awake? No problem! We'll get some of the cutest photos of them interacting with you and possibly looking at the camera! Are you enjoying those early newborn days and you really want newborn photos but you don't want to leave the house? Again, no problem! We can come to you! We'll get photos of you and your baby in your home living life just like you do every day! We can put your baby in the crib, in your arms, or on a beautiful blanket. It's a very laid back type of session that doesn't require a lot of stress on your part. In fact, if you need to feed the baby while we're there, we can get some photos of just your nursery decor. These are the moments and the memories you'll want to look back on when they're years older.
