Well Taven is 5 months now!!
This month he got to celebrate his first Thanksgiving! I find myself constantly thanking God for how he’s blessed us with these two boys. Shortly after Torin was born, Usbec and I were talking one night and I told him that if God ever blessed us with another baby I knew it would be a boy. I don’t know how I knew that, but it just felt like I would be a boy Mama. We talked about it, not knowing if we’d ever have any other children, but here we are with two beautiful boys and I’m just so overwhelmed with gratitude for them. The transition from 1 to 2 kids has been really hard for me. I’ve mentioned a little before about how I struggle with postpartum anxiety. And while it’s still a struggle sometimes, I’ve never been so thankful for anything in my life. These boys are the biggest blessings and Thanksgiving just felt extra special this year because of them! 🙂
Anyways – enough mushy gushy! 😉 Here’s a few highlights from Taven’s past month!
He found his feet! I just love when they find their feet and roll back and forth with their feet in the air! It’s too cute! And Taven smiles the entire time he’s playing with them.
Speaking of smiling, he laughs constantly! He can be watching Torin across the room and laughs at him, no matter what he’s doing!
We broke out the exersaucer this month. Taven wasn’t trying to sit up in the swing just yet, and he hadn’t reached the weight limit, but with his plagiocephaly, I just couldn’t continue to put him in there anymore because his head would naturally go to the flat side. So we got out the exersaucer and he gets to play in it about 10 -20 minutes a day (broken up) so I can get a little something done if he’s getting fussy before nap time. He loves it!
At the beginning of this past month he was still in our room. It got to the point though that he was waking up EVERY. SINGLE. HOUR. He’s a pretty light sleeper so we got to wondering if he was waking up when we were just rolling over in the middle of the night or something. So we moved him to his own room (a month sooner than we moved Torin!). Sure enough, he slept so much better!! He still wakes up about twice a night, but it’s better than every hour! 🙂
Nursing is still going well. I’m praying we’ll make it to a year, but I’m starting to wonder if we will. Taven still has such a strong latch and I’ve already had 2 rounds of mastitis and plugged ducts every single week. No one has ever checked, but I’m really wondering if he has a lip tie or tongue tie and after my doctor mentioned we should have him checked, I’ve reached out to our pediatrician about it!
Physical therapy is going really well! We’ve seen some pretty huge changes and so much improvement that we’re hopeful he won’t have to have a helmet! We’re waiting until he’s 6 months though and then we’ll recheck and see!
He has started solids! So far we’re only doing purees and he’s liked everything except carrots. He will NOT eat carrots. Just purses his lips together and turns his head away haha! Granda and Dude got to feed him a little bit too and that was fun!
I promise, they love each other even though Taven’s face doesn’t fully reflect that! haha! I just love them so much!
